Beating Cancer Through Research | Big Brain Energy EP 1 | Prof Abhi, Jessica Ooi

Picture this: People in white lab coats, mixing liquids, furiously typing or jotting down notes. When you think about a scientist or researcher, do these images come to mind? While these may be stereotypical, there are actually many scientists and researchers in Malaysia who are working tirelessly to improve lives.

In this first episode of Big Brain Energy, we speak with health researchers who have big ideas. One such researcher is Jessica Ooi, who is developing an easy-to-use ovarian cancer test kit to help eradicate late detection of this type of cancer, which often leads to avoidable deaths.

Watch the full conversation here, where Professor Abhimanyu, Provost of Sunway University, and Jessica share their journeys in science and why they are determined to continue their work, even when the going gets tough.

Presented in collaboration with the Merdeka Award Trust.
